Navjot Singh Sidhu Under Religious Political Fire in India

August 22. 2018 – Mumbai  – It is customary in India that opposition parties and their some radical leaders are awaiting chances to criticism and go against anyone if there is something related to Pakistan. It is a sentiment rather than a pure politics and there are always violent outcome of those incidents.

Recently Indian Cricketer turn Congress politician and a minister of Punjab state in India, Navjot Singh Sidhu has traveled to Pakistan to attend the oath taking ceremony of Cricketer turn Politician Imran Khan whose party has won the election and elected as prime minister of Pakistan.

It has sparked a major row among the opposition party and nationalistic elements in the country. In the ceremony, Sidhu hugged Pakistan’s army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa which invited a lot of criticism against him from various BJP leaders. BJP workers on Monday carried out a Morcha against Sidhu at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan and tried to burn his poster but the police prevented the same.We will agitate at every place until Sidhu is arrested and charged with sedition. BJP Leaders and workers are saying.

If Sidhu steps in Mumbai, we will cut his hands and legs off  BJP veteran Mohammad Farooq Azam said.

While BJP workers tried to burn the poster of the Congress leader, the police stopped it. Meanwhile, the agitators chanted slogans against Sidhu.

After various media critics attacks for his visit to Pakistan for Imran Khan’s oath ceremony and a hug shared with the Pakistani army chief, hit back today with a detailed rebuttal. Asserting that his visit was “not about politics” but a warm invite from an old friend, the Punjab minister pointed out that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had traveled on the bus to Lahore and Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an unscheduled trip to Lahore in 2015, on his way back from an official visit to Afghanistan.

In his rebuttal, Mr Sidhu has highlighted a friendship of his previous career and could be a better neighbor in the future as Imran Khan has already wished to have better India Pakistan relation and to end the long standing differences in 21st century modern world. There was nothing political or motivational talks or events took place during his visit. It was purely a friends wish fulfilled.
