Nepal Enters the ICC League Division II after defeating Malaysia by 36 runs

29 OCTOBER 2014 Kathmandu – Most Probably If a full country is in joyous cheers now that could be Nepal as Their Cricket team defeated Host Nation Malaysia today by vast 36 runs in the qualifying matches being on the top rank in their group of Nation. Now Nepal enters to the ICC world cup league ranking in the division II which opens a vast world of dream for the Nepalese who had started to play cricket since few years ago.

According to the news broke now, Nepal has advanced to the ICC World Cricket League Division II after defeating Malaysia by 36 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis method in a rain-marred match at Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

Nepal, tied on eight points with Uganda, topped the table with better net run-rate. Uganda also secured their place in the Division II after finishing in second spot.

Nepal was batting on 89 for two after 25 overs chasing a target of 143 runs given by hosts Malaysia when rain interrupted the match. The match had to be abandoned after the interruption and match officials declared Nepal winner under the D/L method.

Earlier, winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Nepal produced a valiant display with the bowl and excelled in the fielding department to bundle out Malaysia for a paltry 142 runs.

Opener Anwar Arudin was the only notable contributor to Malaysian score with a hard-fought 69 from 102 balls. Khizar Hayat and Derek Duraisingam also contributed 23 runs each.

Man-of-the-match Paras Khadka shone with the ball as he rattled Malaysian top order with four wickets. Skipper Khadka also produced a brilliant fielding display claiming four catches. Bhuwan Karki claimed three and Shakti Gauchan took two as Malaysia lost their last six wickets for a mere 31 runs.

Naresh Budayair (42) and Gyanendra Malla (35) lead the Nepali chase with a brilliant 69-run partnership for the second wicket.

Nepal had lost opener Subash Khakurel for three runs and skipper Khadka was batting on one run when rain interrupted the match. Nepal will play against Uganda in the final match on Thursday.

Most of the tournament was disturbed by torrential rain caused by Asian typhoon struck some days ago, Nepal’s dream to play with the veteran cricketers around the world may has come so near that withing few years from Now, May Nepal be playing world cup of ICC Cricket and Nepalese anticipation and dream come true.
