More than 1400 dolphins were killed in a single day last year on the Faroe Islands in northern Denmark. Dolphins are considered to be very friendly friends of humans. It is said that dolphins are regarded as loving animals because they float on their backs to rescue when they get information that an animal has drowned.
But according to the local tradition of Faro, dolphins, and whales are killed in masse once a year. Even if it is killed with merciless mercury, the water bird makes a sound as if one of its friends is in trouble. An innocent aquatic friend comes to the rescue. When they gather, they are attacked. The sea water is red with blood. It is said that this was done to eat meat and to preserve culture.
On the other hand, we have another similar tradition, that Dhamis dance wearing peacock feathers. Nowadays, on Sri Krishna Janmashtami, their little children are dressed as Krishna and Radha by wearing peacock feathers. In this way, innocent peacocks are killed in nets to adorn the heads of our young mothers and fathers. A large number of male peacocks are killed by setting nets in the entire forest. Those rooster feathers reach inside our house.
Yes, talking about ideals is not enough.
It is natural to ask the question of what to do without killing animals and waterfowl that are raised commercially. The thing is fine, but there is a way to kill. Science has proven that meat is healthier if the source of the meat is killed with the least amount of pain.
In the world, 3 billion animals and birds are killed annually for meat. 20 million of them are large animals. Animals are killed everywhere, but the method of killing is different. It has been proven that even those who die without knowing that they are dying, or without lamenting as “Aiya”, do not become sour in their hearts, and eating the meat of animals killed in this way does not make the bodies of those who eat it sour.
Another thing is that the wealthy and, in some cases, even common people who are sick are changing their kidneys. After the death, the kidney had to be changed, but the main question is who changed the kidney.
If some relative or well-wisher gives you a kidney, it will be good. It is a very good thing to save the lives of others, especially family members and relatives, even if you are weak. But if a kidney is bought from the market or if someone goes to India and transplants a kidney because of the fear of legal action while buying it directly from the market, remember, that person has indirectly killed someone. The kidney in the stomach is someone’s life.
Recently, the media brought up the incident of transplanting a pig’s heart into a human being in America. This is a good thing. Now, in the future, if pig hearts can be transplanted into humans, the commercial production of pigs will increase. Pigs produced in this way are not killed. When the pig dies, the heart also dies. So, he is hacked with a stick and his heart is taken out and he dies naturally.
On the other hand, we still have the tradition of animal sacrifice. In India, our Naradevi temple in Kathmandu is said to be the place of human sacrifice. Once, while on a visit to India, 2-4 old men said this.
I did not dare to come to Kathmandu and do much research about it. Where is the courage to be interested in human sacrifice? Sometimes it was also heard that children who have disappeared from society are taken to be sacrificed at the big pools and infrastructure construction sites being built in India. What a terrible thing. Some lost children are found in circuses in India.
Nepal is known as the country that sacrifices the most animals in the world. A large number of snakes and goats are sacrificed in the Gadhimai religious fair held at regular intervals. In 2009, the foreign media broadcast the news of Ranga (Water buffalo) sacrifices ranging from two hundred fifty thousand to five hundred thousand yet no one has exact numbers counted.
News also mentioned that 250 Katuwa (Butchers) were appointed for the sacrifice of these animals. They have now suspected that the fair will be held again in 2024 with the double number of sacrifices.
Not only us but animals are also treated inhumanely in many parts of the world. Almost all cultures have a practice of sacrifice.
Especially the situation of community dogs living in the streets and corners of houses is even more miserable. They are forced to steal or eat food thrown by someone. On the one hand, the thrown food has polluted the environment.
If the politics of waste has deepened, we don’t have the time to give the food that is thrown away in every house and restaurant to the dog sitting outside. What kind of busyness is this?
An inhumane system of leaving old cows and buffaloes on the road has developed. Cows live in miserable conditions as they are considered mothers until they give milk and are left on the streets after they stop milking.
This happened once in Bangladesh. In the country with the densest population in the world, the problem of poisonous snakes has increased. Then the government arranged a reward for snake killers. In a few years, the snakes were exterminated due to the killing spree.
Then there was a big biggie of mice. Today, snakes used to eat mice. It was naturally balanced. Now the snake is gone, and the mouse has grown. Again, the government started giving rewards to rat killers. Now there will be another problem.
These animals have not inhabited the same environment as humans. At least they don’t drive. Nor do they open nuclear furnaces. And why don’t we become sensitive to animals? Is the earth for humans only?
