Development Works should move on even ideology changed says Koirala

06 MAY, 2014 KATHMANDU – Government changing and ideology changed along with the government has obstructed the many of the various development works in Nepal in the past, Ten year long communist insurgency has ruined the country which was stepped up with free market and public government partnership development works.

Hydro-power projects, roads, town planning, natural resources preservation and many of the jungle protection works were destroyed during the long run civil war which has brought nothing to the people of Nepal but poverty.

As to step up from the current scenario, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that nobody should create any obstacle to development and construction works in various districts.

In a meeting with a delegation from the Karnali Watershed Preservation Society at his Baluwatar residence on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Koirala said changing ideologies with the change in governments and thereby obstruction in development projects has stopped the country from accelerating ahead.

“The country will not move ahead if we are not able to produce and utilize hydro-power”, he said while calling for the support of all in establishing peace and stability, prerequisite for foreign investors to invest in the country.

During the meeting, the Society Chair Lok Bahadur Rawat emphasized that the Upper Karnali Project should be totally in the interest of Nepal and the Nepali people.

An agreement had been reached with the GMR Company of India on January 24, 2008 for the Upper Karnali Project located in the Karnali Watershed area.
