Kathmandu July 14, 2010-Unified CPN (Maoist) central member and division commander of the party-affiliated People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Kali Bahdur Kham, alleged of involvement looting Chinese businessmen and illegal trade of Yarshagumba, has denied the allegations.

Police had raided Kham’s residence in Gongabu and recovered cash, Yarshagumba, his identity cards, documents, duplicate stamps of forest offices, a laptop and arms.

Organising a press conference in the capital Monday, police displayed the materials seized from Kham’s room and claimed he was involved in looting the Chinese businessmen and illegal trade of Yarshagumba.

Talking to Nagarik daily over the phone Tuesday Kham said, “the flat is mine. The cash, laptop, identity cards and the documents are also mine. But, the Yarshagumba, duplicate government stamps and the arms are not mine.”

“I am not involved in looting the Chinese businessmen and illegal trade of Yarshagumba,” said Kham.

Kham informed the money seized from his room was not the one looted from the Chinese businessmen.

“That (the money) was not the one looted from the Chinese businessmen,” Kham told Nagarik. ” I am ready to reveal the source if necessary.”

He also denied any relation with seven out of eight persons arrested in connection with the looting.

According to Kham, only Ashok Khati is his aide.

Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) has started internal investigations on Kham. Two central level leaders had visited Kham’s flat in the course of the investigation, sources say.

Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said, Kham is not in contact with the party since two months.

Kham is also accused of abducting and murdering businessman Ram Hari Shrestha of Kathmandu lat year on Money dispute charges.
