Kathmandu, August 01, 2010- Long Awaited Nepal’s Peace process may come to an end if a new government could form in time. As voted twice in the parliament, failed to score required support from the Legislature members, Maoist Chairman Prachanda has claimed that the nation would get the new Prime Minister in the third round of election to be held on Monday.
“The UCPN-Maoist would form the next government by coordinating with other political parties, if the parliament fails to elect the new PM on Monday,” Prachanda told journalists on after meeting with Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subash Chandra Nemwang.
According to Sunday’s The Rising Nepal daily, the ongoing peace and constitution making processes were discussed at the meeting in addition to other contemporary issues.
“I asked Prachanda to expedite the constitution making process by ending the ongoing political deadlock,” Nemwang was quoted by the daily as saying.
The Legislature Parliament is holding the third round of election on Monday after it failed to elect new Prime Minister twice. Prachanda and Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel are contesting the election.
The Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) Chairman JhalaNath Khanal withdrew his candidacy in the first round of election saying that he failed to muster support from the two-thirds majority of parliament members.
The first and second rounds of elections were held on July 21 and 23, respectively. The election process was in limbo as the third largest party CPN-UML and Madhes-based political parties remained neutral during the two elections.
It is still uncertain that any of these parties are able to score the majority to form a new government on time with their divided members withing parties. “Peace and Progress” is the only two things that Nepali People are lookign for at this moment. We wish and warned parties to understand the needs of public in time before it is too late for them to deal in future.
