20 May 2020 Kathmandu – As we all know Corona Virus is spreading throughout the world like a wildfire. Nepal was considering safe till the end of April when it was imposed lockdown at an early stage. After a month of lockdown, there were cases reported in various parts of southern Nepal where people were freely traveled from India and stayed in community in the terai, cases increased drastically within a month, and numbers are just counting.
The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed 34 new coronavirus cases in Nepal taking the tally to 409 on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the ministry Dr. Bikash Devokta informed 28 of them are male and 6 are female.
According to him, 11 people from Jhapa, 5 from Kapilvastu, 2 from Morang, 1 from Sunsari, 5 from Kathmandu, 1 from Makawanpur, 1 from Ramechhap, 2 from Lalitpur, and 1 from Nawalparasi have tested positive for coronavirus.
With this, the number of coronavirus-infected people in the country has reached 409 out of which 39 have recovered.
Similarly, 2280 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 32604. Meanwhile, 447 people are in Isolation. Out of them, 2 persons died in isolation.
Likewise, the Ministry has decided to send a team of 10 health workers including doctors each in Province 2 and Province 5. According to the latest record, 136 cases have been reported in Province 2 while 176 cases found in Province 5.
A discussion going on in the house of Representatives yesterday, Cabinet ministerial decision has made to allow private hospitals too can perform coronavirus investigation using the PCR system with the cost of Rs. 15000 each.
