27 DECEMBER 2014 KATHMANDU – Nepal a peaceful and mind reviving location and people that is what most of the international visitors describe and for the second time in her life, An American spoken-word poet Sarah Kay will be performing at the Alliance Francaise, Bainshighat Marg, Teku, today. The show will start from 2 pm and will go on till 5 pm. Kay had previously performed in Kathmandu in 2012.
Kay is also a spoken-word educator and the co-founder of Project VOICE, an organisation that uses spoken word poetry as a tool for literacy and empowerment.
Kay has performed in numerous venues internationally including the Lincoln Center, the Tribeca Film Festival and at TED Talk. She was also a featured performer at the United Nations for the launch of the 2004 World Youth Report. Her most recent poetry collection, “No Matter the Wreckage”, was published in March, earlier this year. The event will feature Kay along with poets from the Word Warriors, a spoken word poetry collective based in Kathmandu .
The event will also have food and drink stalls and a photo booth managed by Photo Circle. A limited number of Kay’s books will also be available for purchase during the event.
Tickets are priced at Rs 700 for the entry and Seats are limited, any one in Kathmandu wish to see one of the most promising artist in front of your eyes performing one of the great literacy art, let’s be there before 2:30 PM today.
The event is being organised by Quixote’s Cove and Word Warriors, with support from the Danish Center for Culture and Development, Himalayan Distillery Pvt Ltd, Alliance Francaise de Kathmandu , and Thames International College.

Take the road towards Ekantakuna from Jawalakhel and take the first left after Staff College. As soon as you turn left, you will see the Index Furniture showroom. Go straight down the road and look out to the left for the Himalayan Motorcycle workshop, which is on the ground floor in a blue and white building right next to a small park. We’re on the second floor of that building.
