June 04,2012, Kathmandu – Much awaited civil servant vacancies in different departments are taking shape as Professor P. Kharel has been appointed the chief of Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Tribhuvan University for four years. Kharel took charge of his office from today amid a function at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus.

Kharel expressed his commitment to best utilize his experience and ability for equipping the department with quality education and resourcefulness. Other members of the department expressed their expectations that the department would leap forward during his tenure.

Kharel has the experience of a practicing journalist as well as media academic with an experience of over 30 years. He served as Editor-in-Chief of The Rising Nepal (1994-96). Prominent media critic and columnist writing on national and internal issues Prof. Kharel has edited and/ or co-authored more than 15 media related books.
