April 02, 2011, Abu Dhabi UAE- High traffic, careless drivers and increasing speed of wheels are killing hundreds of people in road accidents yearly in UAE. In a massive car pile-up today leaves two people killed instanlty and more than 15 are in critical condition as Abu Dhabi Police reported.
Two people died and 55 others were injured in a massive car pile-up involving around 70 vehicles on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway early Saturday, according to officials.
The crashes happened between Sahama and Ghantoot on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway at 8.45am, a Seha spokesperson told.
Hospitals in Abu Dhabi started receiving victims after one hour of the accident according to the hospitals.
Fifty-three people have been admitted at Al Rahba Hospital while two are at Al Mafraq Hospital.[wp_campaign_1]
Out Of them nine people are in critical condition, while 15 people are in serious to moderate conditions. Thirty people sustained minor injuries.
An Abu Dhabi Traffic Police official told that police were still investigating the incident and will issue a preliminary report once the initial investigation is over.
