MAY 13, 2012 KATHMANDU – As Political Parties in Nepal are failed to have consensus on constitution drafting and state re-structuring issues, Prime minister’s political advisor Devendra Poudel said that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is doing his homework to extend the Constituent Assembly (CA) deadline.
Addressing an interaction program organized at Reporters Club in the Capital, Poudel said that the constitution would be promulgated by the CA, even if the parties have to extend its deadline. He said that the parties would solve their differences to extend the deadline of CA.
Claiming that the CA cannot be dissolved before promulgating constitution, Poudel said that if the CA deadline was not extended then the country would be pushed towards anarchy.
“CA cannot be dissolved without a proper alternative. PM Bhattarai also believes that CA should not be dissolved before the promulgation of the constitution,” said Poudel.
Furthermore, Poudel said that anti-federalists want to continue the political status quo. He claimed that the demand of ‘integrated Far West’ is a proof of those conspirators.
Political parties are not doing enough to curb the current situation but busy in blaming each other instead of finding common ground for political consensus.
similarly, other leaders also sought for extending the tenure of CA as Deputy Prime Minister from Terai based Party also announced that CA term should be extended to announce the constitution from the Current Assembly.
