Constitutional Council preparing to issue public notice to invite Dahal

Kathmandu, November 01, 2010-The Constitutional Council (CC) is planning to invite Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for a meeting through public notices after he refused to receive an invitation letter, Kantipur daily reported.

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who is the ex-officio chairman of the Council, has called a meeting Monday afternoon to discuss on this.
The meeting will discuss the possibility of inviting Dahal for a meeting through advertisements in newspapers, radios and televisions.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has claimed Dahal refused the invitation letter for a meeting on Friday saying it was called without consulting him.

According to the CC regulations, members should be informed about a meeting at least 48 hours in advance.

The CC is responsible for making nominations in constitutional bodies. However, today’s meeting will not make any nominations as such nominations in the absence of the leader of main opposition will not be valid.
