Kavre, Nepal, Jun 07, 2010-More than two dozen locals were injured when police intervened in a demonstration, over accidental death of a man, in front of District Police Station in Dhulikhel, Kavre on Monday.
The locals staged the protest demanding action against the man behind the wheel of a tripper that ran over a person, killing him yesterday.
The police resorted to baton-charge and lobbed one round of tear gas shells after the agitation became violent.
Among thoe injured, Kedar Duwal and Krishna Bahadur Khadka have said to be in critical condition.
Likewise, Sudarshan Pahari, Sunita Nagarkoti, Shyam Sundar Pahari, among others, have been injured. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Dhulikhel hospital.
A person was killed after being hit a tipper at Athaish-Kilo along the Araniko Highway on Sunday. The tipper driver have been absconding.
The police have identified the driver as Bhuwna Shrestha of Baireni, Dhading.
The locals and the relatives of the deceased have been demanding an immediate action against the driver.
