Kathmandu July 14, 2010- In A bid to curb illegal pyramid business in Nepal,Police in Kathmandu arrested an official of Unity International in connection with the illegal business undertakings of the networking company, on Wednesday.
A police team apprehended head of public relation section of Unity, Ram Prasad Ghimire, 30, from Satungal. Ghimire was at large after Lalitpur administration padlocked his office and froze all bank accounts a couple of months ago.
According to earlier investigation conducted by government into the Unity row, Ghimire, who is a permanent resident of Gulmi, is learnt to be one of the chief beneficiaries of Unity’s membership commission. Unity International had doled out more than Rs 10 million as ‘commission’ to Ghimire.
Even after government’s intervention, ordinary clients of Unity are not yet compensated as assured earlier. Some of the company’s promoters included in the most-wanted list of the police are still absconding.
