SINDHUPALCHOWK,SEP 06 -In a bus Accident At least five persons have been killed and 10 others missing at Sindhupalchowk district on Monday.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, 42, and Kanchi Shrestha, 30, of Barabise-8.
The identification of the other two men and a woman—is yet to be ascertained.
The passenger bus (Na 2 Kha 4013) en route to Barabise from Tatopani plunged into the Bhotekoshi River at Dhungakhani of Gati VDC along the Arniko Highway at 10 a.m. this morning.
The bus, carrying 18 passengers in total, plunged into the river when its wheel stumbled in a hole at the landslide-affected area, driver Bikram Shakya informed.
Shakya, along with the assistant driver and a passenger, was able to swim through the river and escape the mishap.
Armed Police and Nepal Army are searching for the missing passengers.
Although assistance was sought from a rafting team for the search process, the team could not be deployed owing to high water currents, Deputy Superintendent of Police Thanesu Regmi informed.
The team will be deployed from tomorrow if the currents retreat, Regmi added.
