Three people were injured in Sukedhara while one was injured in Ghattekulo.

The victims are yet to be identified.

Police have suspected the cylinders that exploded could have been improvised as explosive devices and could have been planned for planting them somewhere in the Capital by the members of the Communist Party of Nepal led by Chand which has called a general strike on Monday.
“In both the incidents, the cylinders seem to have exploded accidentally,” Senior Superintendent of Police Uttam Raj Subedi, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, told the Post. “The ones who had plans to plant the devices somewhere in the Capital seems to have been the victims themselves due to the accidental blasts. However, in Sukedhara blast, the injured include the locals.”

Police said those killed in the blasts could be members of the Chand-led party.

The government has banned the activities of the Communist Party of Nepal, saying it is a criminal group.

“Preliminary investigation shows that one person who was injured in the blast at Ghattekulo was a cadre of the Chand-led outfit,” Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Lal Gyawali, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Office, told the Post. “Further investigation is underway.”

In February, a blast carried out by the Chand outfit in Nakkhu had killed one person and injured two others. A month later, the Chand outfit had carried out another blast in Basundhara.

The Chand-outfit has declared a nation-wide banda on Monday demanding an investigation into the death of its cadre Tirtha Raj Ghimire.
