A video of a head teacher forcing female students to leave the school premise without their abayas has been taking rounds on social media.
According to the Saudi Gazette, the father of one of the students at that particular school said that his daughter was not allowed to enter the school as her abaya was not covering her head.
The father also conveyed the fact that, Mudhisha Hamlan who is the principal of Mahalat Ghuwan Middle and High School in Sibya Governorate of Jazan Province, has laid out strict rules, which prohibits all school students from wearing abayas which do not cover their heads.
It was in this instance that the principal confiscated the abayas of the female students and sent them outside the school without them.
According to a report in Al Bawaba, the school principal justified her act by saying that the female students were seen wearing abayas from their shoulders which is deemed as unsuitable or inappropriate. The abaya which also covers the wearers head is what the students were required to wear.
It was during early December, that another Saudi woman by the name of Malak Al Shehri had to deal with serious death threats, after a picture of her (without wearing a hijab) was seen on social media.
